Despite its ease of use, OpenMP has failed to gain widespread use on large scale systems, largely due to its failure to deliver sufficient performance. Our experience indicates that the cost of initiating OpenMP regions is simply too high for the desired OpenMP usage scenario of many applications. In this paper, we introduce CLOMP, a new benchmark to characterize this aspect of OpenMP implementations accurately. CLOMP complements the existing EPCC benchmark suite to provide simple, easy to understand measurements of OpenMP overheads in the context of application usage scenarios. Our results for several OpenMP implementations demonstrate that CLOMP identifies the amount of work required to compensate for the overheads observed with EPCC. We also show that CLOMP also captures limitations for OpenMP parallelization on SMT and NUMA systems. Finally, CLOMPI, our MPI extension of CLOMP, demonstrates which aspects of OpenMP interact poorly with MPI when MPI helper threads cannot run on the NIC.  相似文献

This paper proposes a method for the design of the adaptive rotor flux observer gain to improve stability at low speed and in regenerating mode. The method is based on stability analysis, which utilizes a linearized model considering all systems, including each control loop. Therefore, the proposed method considers the effects of motor constants and control circuit constants. The stability analysis using the transfer function for the rotor speed considers the arrangement of poles and zeros and the steady‐state error. The rotor flux observer gain which improves the stability for each operating condition is ascertained. This paper also proposes a real‐time tuning method for the observer gain. The validity of the proposed method was confirmed by simulation using Matlab Simulink and by experiment. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The present study seeks to establish the validity of the Group Psychotherapy Intervention Rating Scale (GPIRS), an observer-rated measure of the quality of group leader interventions. Concurrent validity was tested by comparing GPIRS results to 2 group gold standard process measures, the Hill Interaction Matrix and the Group Climate Questionnaire. Significant correlations between leader intervention scores and group member perceptions of group climate, as well as verbal interaction scores, were found. In addition, results indicated correlations between interventions aimed to gain balance between confrontation and warmth and member-rated levels of cohesion. Preparation and characterization of biodiesel produced from fish oil   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This study evaluated the production of biodiesel using fish oil as raw material. Two-stage alkaline-catalysis transesterification was performed with 6/1 molar ratio of methanol to oil at 55°C in the presence of 1 wt. % base amount of potassium hydroxide (KOH). The fuel properties of the biodiesel were further analyzed. The characterizations of the produced biodiesel showed that it met ASTM D 6751 standard with respect to acid number, flash point, water and sediment, free and total glycerin, sulfur content, distillation temperature, etc. It was found that cold soak and oxidative stability were out spec due to the high amount of polyunsaturated fatty acid present in the fish oil. However, through blending with used cooking oil biodiesel, in spec biodiesel fuel could be achieved.  相似文献

Wheat gluten was reacted with citric acid to produce natural superabsorbent materials able to absorb up to 78 times its weight in water. The properties of the modified gluten samples were characterized using Fourier Transform Infra‐red (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and water uptake. The reaction between gluten and citric acid was examined for gluten : citric acid ratios of 0.38 : 1 to 0.75 : 1 at temperatures from 100 to 130°C. More citric acid reacted for samples containing higher citric acid concentrations and at higher temperatures. FTIR analyses indicated the presence of carboxylate groups on the modified gluten samples, which resulted in modified samples having higher water uptake values than neat gluten. The sample with a gluten:citric acid ratio of 0.5 : 1 and reaction temperature of 120°C had the largest water uptake value. There is an increasing desire to use more engineered timber products in buildings, due to the perceived aesthetics of timber and desire for more sustainable architecture. However, there are concerns about fire performance of these products especially in taller buildings. This has led to renewed research to understand the behaviour of timber surfaces in compartments exposed to fire. This paper describes a two-zone calculation model for determining the fire environment within a compartment constructed from timber products where varying amounts of timber are exposed on the walls and ceiling. A set of eight full-scale compartment experiments previously reported in the literature are used to assess the capability of the model. The fire load energy density in the experiments ranged from 92 MJ/m2 to 366 MJ/m2 comprising either wood cribs or bedroom furniture with the largest compartment having dimensions 4.5?×?3.5?×?2.5 m high with an opening 1.069 m wide?×?2.0 m high. The experiments were ventilation-controlled. It is shown that the model can be used to provide conservative predictions of the fire temperatures for compartments with timber exposed on the walls and/or ceiling as part of an engineering analysis. There are several limitations that are discussed including the need to consider the debonding of layers in the case of cross-laminated timber. It is recommended that further benchmarking of the model be done for different ventilation conditions and with engineered timber products where debonding does not occur. This will test the model under a wider range of conditions than examined in this paper.  相似文献

Structure–property relationships have been developed for sulfonated poly(butylene terephthalate) copolymers. The compositional variables investigated were sulfonate content, molecular weight, and polymer endgroup composition, and the fundamental polymer properties evaluated were melt viscosity, crystallization kinetics, and impact strength. It was found that all compositional variables significantly affect all of the polymer properties of interest. The most interesting effect is the influence of polymer endgroup composition on polymer properties. The trends indicate that the carboxylic acid endgroups form intermolecular interactions with sodium sulfonate groups, resulting in a decrease in the strength of intermolecular ionic interactions between sodium sulfonate groups. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble emulsion (HASE) polymers are an important class of rheology modifiers for waterborne coatings applications. They are typically prepared as terpolymers by emulsion polymerization of ethyl acrylate (EA), methacrylic acid (MAA), and an associative macromonomer. The viscosity development and shear responses of HASE solutions depend on a number of factors. This article presents rheological data reflecting the impacts of three key variables: hydrophobe size, acid content, and molecular weight, on model HASE thickening and rheological performance. The relative contributions of hydrophobic association, chain expansion, and polymer chain length are discussed. In steady shear flow, all thickener solutions approached some constant low-shear viscosity at small deformation rates. At the same molar composition, larger hydrophobe size resulted in higher viscosity development and greater shear thinning behavior. The amount of acid monomer in HASE polymers can influence the balance between hydrophobic attraction and electrostatic repulsion forces. It was found that a minimum of 15 wt% MAA was required to effect dissolution and thickening of the model HASE polymers. Increasing the MAA level yielded higher zero-shear viscosity and storage modulus G’ with maximal values being obtained at 40% MAA. The molecular weight of the model thickeners was controlled by the amount of chain transfer agent (CTA) added during polymerization. When the CTA level was below 0.1 wt% based on total monomers, the polymer solutions displayed shear-thinning behavior. A small increase in CTA concentration beyond 0.1% resulted in a dramatic change to Newtonian flow, and the solution viscosity was nearly two orders of magnitude lower. The model thickeners were also tested in a vinyl acrylic architectural paint formulation. The effects of each individual factor on paint thickener efficiency, high-shear, and low-shear properties are discussed and compared with solution rheology for predictive relationships. Coalification is a burial metamorphic process fundamental to understanding the origin and nature of coals and petroleum. Accurate assessment of Coalification requires removal of the variation in coal properties owing to differences in coal type. This is best achieved by assessing the coal rank of the maceral groups exinite, vitrinite and inertinite (and ultimately the macerals within each group) in terms of maximum reflectance. The mean maximum reflectances of exinite (R?E max), vitrinite (R?v max) and inertinite (R?I max) are highly correlated over the rank range, soft brown coals to low-volatile bituminous coals. A single exinite Coalification break is identified at 0.4 to 0.5% R?V max. Thereafter, exinite coalification occurs at an increasing rate (R?E max relative to R?V max) over the rank range 0.5–2.0% R?V max, crossing the vitrinite Coalification path at 1.55% R?V max. A phase of rapid inertinite Coalification (0.7–2.0% R?I max) occurs between 0.2 and 0.9% R?V max. Since exinite is a major land-plant source of hydrocarbons, and R?E max is a sensitive indicator of organic maturation over the range 0.2–1.1% R?E max, which corresponds to the main phase of oil generation, R?E max can be a most useful indicator of petroleum generation. The inertinite lnkohlungsprung represents a dramatic compositional change which should be taken into account when considering the origin of inertinite, its utilization properties and the general processes of rank change and organic maturation.  相似文献
